Math and the Environment Webinar for Educators
Tuesday, May 6, 2014 4:00:00 PM CDT - 5:00:00 PM CDT
PBS Learning Media is hosting an online session for educators focusing on exciting new resources highlighting math and the environment. WNET Outreach Producer, Janice Fuld, will provide an overview of the award-winning PBS series Cyberchase. She will introduce the new math and the environment resources featured in the Cyberchase collection on PBS LearningMedia, which includes videos, student activities, games, handouts and more. Cyberchase Executive Producer, Ellen Doherty, will provide behind-the-scenes insight into the show and the current season. Carolyn Jacobs, Senior Manager of Training and Educator Engagement at WGBH, will give an overview of the exciting new middle school literacy math resources now available on PBS LearningMedia.

While students today may think of the Civil Rights movement as part of the distant past, it’s clear that many of the problems that fueled that fight are still with us. Please join us for a presentation and conversation on teaching the history of civil rights and its relevance to today's events and social justice issues.  Deborah Menkart, Executive Director of Teaching for Change will moderate and two high school educators will focus on specific parts of the Movement and showcase their classroom work and the resources they draw on.

Eyes on the Prize, the groundbreaking PBS documentary series is currently being rebroadcast on World, a PBS channel.  The WGBH Education Eyes on the Prize  Viewing and Discussion Guide for Educators supports integrating the series into your instruction.  And a new companion collection of classroom resources has recently launched on PBS LearningMedia™ entitled Civil Rights: Then and Now.

Space is limited so please register today.  We will be recording and distributing the archived link to all who register.  And, we are thrilled to offer a DVD collection of the entire Eyes on the Prize series to one lucky registrant. The winner will be announced on the webinar.

Thank you.
